Cihan Butun and Ran Wang from Brunel University have presented the project work as part of the Work Package 5 in the 31st European Conference on Operational Research (EURO 2021) on July 13th, 2021. The EURO 2021 conference, one of the most prominent academic events on operational research and management science, is held in Athens between 11-14 July 2021 in hybrid format. In his speech Cihan Butun introduced the container pre-marshalling problem with sustainability considerations and discussed the PortForward approach to solve it in the context of the work package use case terminal operations. Ran Wang talked about the novel solution method the consortium has designed to tackle the yard crane scheduling problem, which is another terminal operations optimization problem that forms the basis of the Green Yard Scheduler.
