On November 4, 2021, the German Transport Forum’s Steering Group Ports and Shipping met at the Fraunhofer IFF, Magdeburg.
The agenda of the meeting included topics such as digitalization, automation, climate protection and sustainable marine fuels.
The German Transport Forum (DVF) aims to promote an efficient, user-friendly and sustainable integrated transport system. It is the the only multi-modal industry association for passenger and cargo transport in Europe. Its 170 member companies want to improve traffic conditions and secure mobility in Germany and Europe.
During the meeting, the Fraunhofer IFF and the Port of Magdeburg also presented the PortForward project and demonstrated parts of the Virtual Twin developments to the DVF Steering Committee Ports and Shipping in a workshop which included further following topics:
– presentation of the services being developed in piloting ports through the PortForward project
– discussion of the value that these services can bring
– identification of specific needs of stakeholders
– recommendations regarding future adoption and information regarding similar technologies other Ports use.
In addition to the presentation the Fraunhofer IFF team developed an online questionnaire which which was then sent to the participants to collect feedback from the stakeholder.
