PortForward organizes a series of workshops dedicated to selected stakeholders and interested parties to showcase the project results and services as well as to better assess the current needs.
On the 14th of April, the 1st online workshop was held to showcase the Goods Inspection Service that is being developed within the PortForward project in the port of Livorno and Piombino, addressed to specific stakeholders from the consortium port region. The workshop was organized by Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mar Tirreno Settentrionale and CORE INNOVATION with the aim to foster discussion on the solutions that are under development to better diagnose stakeholders’ needs and identify prospects for product developments based on the PortForward results.
The ports of Livorno and Piombino implement the specific use case in collaboration with Teamviewer that develops the Goods Inspection service with the use of smart glasses and assisted reality to improve the collaboration among control bodies and operators in ports. Stakeholders from the Port and Airport Health Office (USMAF) and ADM – Agenzia Dogane e Monopoli (Italian Custom Agency) were introduced to the service through presentation, video and live demonstration outlining the operation and steps to be implemented by the users. The benefits of the service include the improved collaboration among stakeholders in the inspection process, time reduction of goods inspection, enhancement of safety and decrease of paperwork.
After the demonstration the discussion was held around the benefits that the control bodies, custom office, port authorities and other relevant stakeholders see from the adoption of this solution, which also provided development partners with constructive comments and feedback. The overall reception of the service from the stakeholders as future users was very positive and they responded that such a solution would be very beneficial for the improvement of their everyday operations.
Project partners will continue the development of the Goods Inspection service to make it available for the piloting phase in the port where more demonstrations and testing will be made available to stakeholders in order to fine-tune the service.
